Verse 3Verse 2

EIGHT INSTRUCTIONS IN ONE VERSE (VERSE NO.2)

In this verse, some of the important Islamic instructions that were lastly revealed to the prophet are stated, and almost all of them are about the pilgrimage, and its rites and symbols. These instructions are as undermentioned: 1- It begins addressing the believers, not to violate the rites and symbols of pilgrimage by following the established regular programme of HAJJ. By the rites here, everything connected with the pilgrimage is meant, among which we may name; Safaa, Marwa, Arafat, and etc.       2- Respect the Sacred Months, and fight not in them. The sacred months are four, namely; Rajab, Zulghaad, Zulhajj, and Moharram. In all these months war is prohibited.

3- Leave the animals brought as offerings for sacrifice, marked and unmarked- give them immunity as all the creatures are immune in Mecca, until they reach their destination in altar in due time.

4- All the pilgrims, whosoever they be, must have their freedom and immunity from any attack or interference. There in the house of God, no one has any advantage over the other through personality and rank, tribe and wealth, nation and race. Even those who have attended their pilgrimage with material aims, such as some trading, they must be given their freedom, and no one should bother them:-

``Or those that have resorted to the sacred house seeking Allah's Grace- and- Allah's consent.''

5- Hunting is forbidden only when the pilgrim is in the pilgrim's Garb:-

``When you have taken out your pilgrim's Garb you may hunt.''

6- If in the incident of HUDAYBEYEH, some of the pagans of Mecca, by way of hatred and persecution prevented you from having access to the sacred Mosque; now that you Muslims are superior in power, Do not think of taking vengeance and retaliation, by excluding them or interfering with them in pilgrimage. It is no good to return evil for evil:-

``Let not your hatrred of those who barred you from the Holy mosque, lead you into aggression.''

In other words, hatred of the wicked pagans, does not justify hostility on the believers part.

The general principle, and lesson, here is that a Muslim should never be vindictive, and disposed to revenge. Returning evil for evil, shall eventually fill our society with hatred and evil.

7- And the ending of the verse implies that instead of returning evil for evil, and living in a spirit of malice and hatred, we better be forgiving, and help one another in goodness and piety.

8- The last instruction in this verse is to take heed of God, by being pious and devout in order to avoid God's punishment which is strict and hard to suffer, and lays in our deeds.
