VERSES NO. 12-13

Here the argument is moved from the subjects of monotheism, belief and unbelief, to the Resurrection Day, and the control of our Merciful Lord over whatever lives and exists in time and space; consisting of night and day, heavens and earth. The reasoning here is based on two introductions:

1- That Allah is the only owner of whatever lives in the space consisting of heavens and the earth - the Lord owns them and controls them.

2- That Allah is substantially Merciful and has written Mercy on His Sacred Self. Therefore whatever or whoever exists or lives in the space and time is drowned in God's Mercy if only he could know it. In other word, Allah is the source of All Mercies, bounties, beauties and goodnesses. Now, is it possible for such a Merciful Lord to leave man unattended, giving an absolute end to him after a short period of life, by death, reducing him to nothing once again?!

Of course never so! And death will never be our end; but a new commencement of a new life, in a more extensive and more beautiful world, and hence the verse:``He has written Mercy on His Self, and of surety He shall gather you all together for the Resurrection Day, in which there shall be no doubt.''

The ending phrase of the verse points at the fate of those obstinate unbelievers and sinners who do not want to repent and amend their conduct. They have lost the very capital of their life which was the time given them. By that, they have in fact lost their self and soul, and they will not believe in God, and His Message and in particular they do not believe in life to come or the Resurrection Day and Final Judgement! Who can then help them so long as they don't want the help and guidance?!
