A BIG LESSON IN MONOTHEISM

VERSE NO. 141

Following the folly and ignorance of the uncivilized pagans considering God's bounties of farm and cattle; now through a beautiful and eloquent passage, the Glorious Quran reminds us of some other bounties produced and developed by God for mankind:

``It is He who porduced gardens with trellises and without trellises.''

The phrase here, `with and without trellises', points to the trees and plants that can stand firm on their stem, (main trunk) and those that cannot stand on stem; and have to rely upon a frame or some of lattice work. Then, it says; `consider the palm tree and its sweet brown date, with the essential nutriments that it contents for the growing body of man'.

And also reflect for a while upon the farms and gardens with diversity of fruits - from the same soil and water comes out variances of fruit. Each fruit like olive, pomegranate, or grape; may look similar and alike in its species, but each may have sour or sweet taste or may differ in flavour, consistency, shape, size, colour, juice or other nutritional contents! In each variety and kind of fruit, even the individual may be different:

``And eat of the various fruits when they reach maturity and are ripe. And in the day of harvest give its due alms, or the tithe, or whatever the poor's right might be.''

      The ending of verse implies:

``Eat, but waste not, because Allah loves not the prodigal.''

In other word; help yourself and enjoy them in moderation and be thankful to your Gracious Creator who has produced all that variety of food for you, and commit no excess, and waste not.
