Verses 41-44Verses 37-40

The lessons of Monotheism are continued here, by directing the attentions to the sun and moon which are two clear and wonderful signs of God:-

``And the night is a sign for them of which we strip out the day and plunge them in darkness.''

The Arabic, ``SALKH:NASLAKH'' translated to, ``WE STRIP'', literally means to skin a slaughtered cattle, from which the white flesh is stripped out of the black skin.

The nature of the earth is to be dark, and the light is a non-essential entity added to it. When the light is withdrawn, darkness will prevail. Changing day to night, it is somehow similar to changing the life to death.

We can learn many spiritual truths from the physical phenomena around us. There are many signs which may help such a learning among which we may refer to day and night. When the light is taken away it will plunge us to utter darkness, which is something non-existent, and it can also be named, ``THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT''.

But the profits and uses of darkness for the creatures is no less than that of the brightness. It will compel man and animal to have a break for rest and repose which is something vital for their health. It keeps all the creatures quiet in the night to help the rest and repose. It is also a cover for all the endeavours that are better to be done secretly, and many other profits for man, animal, and plants that cannot be inserted in this brief.

The next sign referred to in the above passage, includes the sun as a source of light, and the moon which is a light emitting reflector, and has no light of its own. Both of the celestial bodies, are wonderful signs of God; particularly because of their controlled and regulated movements in their fixed orbits.

It is true that the sun is fixed and stationary in relation to its planets and our Globe, and it is the earth that sails in its established orbit around the sunِan elliptical orbit. However the sun too, in accompany with all the members of the solar system move in a very long circular distance around a polar star, and the astronomers have a good knowledge of this hen, journeying in the middle of her chickens.

Our earth runs in a fixed elliptical orbit around the sun to make the four seasons. The life of the creatures that live upon the earth will depend much upon the stability of the orbit it traverses. If the orbit become closer to the sun, pretty more than that in the summer, every living creature may burn to ashes! If the earth gets a far more distance that it has in winter, the soil too may freeze after the water has been ice-bound.

And such is the case with other planets considering their gravity effects. If the moon could come closer to the earth, the high tide would drown everything including the Ark. But fortunately, every movement that exists, is checked and controlled by an Infinite Wisdom and All-knowing Intelligence.
