Verses 114-122Verses 111-113

The above three verses are the endings that here complete the story of Abraham and his sons:-

``ABRAHAM was one of our believing servants.''

If Abraham was willing to offer his soul and son, and whatever he had as a sacrifice for the sake of God, it was due to his pure faith and sincere belief. Where there is faith there is great generosity, love, and liberality of spirit.

``And we gave him the glad-tidings of having ISAAC, a prophet from among the righteous.''

Isaac was the second son of Abraham born of his first wife Sarah, when he was at the age of a hundred years. Isaac was a righteous believing servant of God, and at length he was promoted to the rank of a prophet too. He was the ancestor of the Jews, among whom there were good and upright people, and also evil-doers too. The latter ones fell from the Grace of God, by following Satan and injured their own souls. Their race could not be of any avail to them when they ruined themselves. Meanwhile they could do no harm to Allah or to prevent him from attaining his purpose:-

``And We blessed him and his son ISAAC, and of their offspring some are good-doers, and some others clearly oppress themselves.''

The ending phrase of this verse (NO.113) implies that the blessings of God to Abraham and ISAAC and to some of their offspring, has nothing to do with their race or tribe or seed. God blessed those of them who were righteous and who were good-doers, and punished those of them who were oppressors and evil-doers just as it was done to any other people.
