Verses 40-42Verses 37-39

TABBAA is the title of the ancient kings of Yemen; as Pharaoh was the title of the kings of Egypt and, KASRÄ, that of the Persian monarches.

Yemen is a country in southwest Arabia, the heart of which is mountainous. Yemen has no rivers or lakes, but the Indian Ocean's periodic winds, and rainy seasons make Yemen the best watered corner of Arabia with an annual rainfall of 20 inch, or more in higher zone.

The largest city is Sanaa, which in modern times has been the capital. TAIZ, the reside in the south was preferred for the capital by the kings in the past. The ruins of the famous dam of Marib in the Jauf basin are the evidences of the civilization which flourished in the interior in ancient time.

Highland Yemen and the interior formed the motherland of the Himyaritic civilization which developed irrigation and architecture to a high degree, some centuries before and after Christ.

In the 7th century Islam spread from northern Arabia into Yemen which for a brief period just before had been a colonial outpost of the Sosanied monarches of Persia.

Here in the above verse, TABBAA is understood to be a title or a family name of the ancient kings of Yemen, (HIMYAR) from the tribe of HAMDÄN. It is narrated that the referee's real name was ``ASAAD-ABUKARAB''

His kingdom seems to have extended over all Arabia, and even to East Africa.

Their early religion is said to have been the worship of celestial bodies.

Our prophet in A.H. 9-10 sent an embassador to the Himyar of Yemen, and in a second mission leaded by Hazrat Imam Ali (AS), the people of Yemen converted to Islam.

The ancient himyars, and natives of Yemen is said to have been intoxicated with power and welfare, and fallen into sin and eventually prepared their fall and perdition with their own hands.
