Verses 51-59Verses 43-50

ZAQQUM, which is said here to be the food of the sinners is a plant, the fruit of which is very bitter in taste. It has a pungent odor and small leaves. It grows in Tahameh, one of the Arabian Island. It emits a kind of milky juice that makes the skin to swell up where it is touched by the juice.

When the sinners in the Hell are hungry, they are fed by the fruit of Zaqqum, saying:-

``Taste it, O, you who thought to have been mighty and honourable.''

Perhaps one can bear some hard physical punishment, but spiritual punishments are unbearable.

The spiritual torment as mentioned here (VERSE NO.49) that an honourable and mighty man has been so abased and despised, and so much helpless, to be told:- ``Taste it, o you....''

According to Qurän, our resurrection is bodily, as well as spiritual, and therefore the punishment and the rewards in the Hereafter are of both, physical and spiritual kinds.

To go deeper to the matter, we see that existences consists of evil, and goodness. Evil always springs out of evil, and beauty comes out of goodness. No human language can adequately describe the horrors to which evil will lead us.

So is the case with our good deeds, which lead to a life of beauty and prosperity, that no eye has ever seen and no ear has heard of it. In middle between, stands Man with his Free Will, and his decision on which way to goِto Hell or to Paradise!?
