Explanations from MafuradatIntroduction

The understanding of God’s attributes is as difficult as the recognition of God and His existence through the study of the material world is easy because there are umpteen sources like atoms about the acceptance of the existence of God through skies, stars, the leaves of the trees, the various kinds of plants and animals or the stem cells of every animal.

But there are those attributes which negate any comparison with the attributes of the creations and this makes matters difficult. The reason for it being difficult is also clear and that is we have been nurtured and brought up under “nature” and are familiar with it; we have also been told that nature and its gifts help us in recognizing God but when we begin to discuss the attributes then we learn that we cannot guess about the attributes of God from the attributes that we have learned because none of the attributes of the creation is without deficiency while the attributes of God are pure and faultless and perfect.

The same nature that helps us recognize God becomes our opponent when we try to study the attributes of God. This is why it is imperative that we should be cautious in trying to recognize His attributes top is safe from the fallacies of similitude and conjectures.

Whatever has been discussed should be taken as a hint about the issue of attributes of God. We will therefore, study some verses connected with this issue mentioned below:

1. Surah A’raf Verse 180:

To God alone belong the most beautiful names so call on him by them ands leave the company of those who belie of deny His names.

 2. Surah Shura Verse 11:

There is nothing whatsoever like Him, and He is the all hearing all-seeing.

 3. Surah Nahl Verse 74:

So do not coin any similitude for God; Verily He knows while you do not.

4. Surah Ikhlas Verse 4:

And there is none like Him.

 5. Surah Saffat Verse 159:

Hallowed is God far above what they describe.

 6. Surah Hajj verse 74:

They do not measure God with His true measure; God is all-mighty, omnipotent.

 7. Surah Ta-Ha Verse 110:

He knows what is before them and what is behind them while they do not comprehend it according to their own knowledge.
