The other group that the Qura’n has declared as permanent resident of Hell is that of the unjust or the oppressors. Verse 45 of Surah Shura says:

“Those who believe shall say, “Verily the losers are those who lost their people on the Day of Reckoning” Beware! The unjust shall surely suffer an unending punishment.”

This tells us that the ultimate fate of oppression is the eternal fire of Hell. This has been said also in other verses like 44 and 46 of Surah Shura.

Does this mean the oppression of god’s people and the weak or does it mean the injustice done to oneself, and accepting polytheism? According to verse 13 of Surah Loqman polytheism is the greatest injustice and verse 254 of Baqarah says:

“Those who disbelieve are the unjust ones.”

Some commentators have preferred another meaning and the term “ the believers will say” also tells us that those oppressed but believe will speak in this manner on the Day of Judgment.

Verse 17 of Surah Hashr after saying that Satan and his followers will remain forever in Hell says:

“That shall be the recompense of the unjust.”

The previous verse says: “Their deeds are like that of Satan who said, “Disbelieve and they did but then he said “Verily I dissociate my self from you. Verily I fear God the Lord of the worlds.” So this makes it clear that the Qura’n is speaking about Satan and his followers. Now we can say that injustice here means it very core that is disbelief.
