The connection of the world with the soulThe quaking in the grave

The various traditions about the questioning in the grave tell us that two groups of humans will be questioned: The first will be that of the pure believers and the second of the absolute disbelievers. The questioning of the weaker group that exists between these two is postponed till the day of Reckoning.

Imam Sadiq has said:

“There will be no questioning in the grave but with those who are the true believer and those absolute disbelievers. The rest of the people will be exempted from it.”(1)

The same meaning is conveyed in a hadith narrated for Imam Baqir. Some one from his companion asked “who will be questioned in the grave?” the Imam answered: “Those who have the pure believe and those who are complete disbelievers” The narrator asked, “what will become of others?’ He answered “They are exempted” the narrator again asked, “What will be asked about?” the Imam answered, “the truth that has been established amongst you.” (2)

Some feel that they will not be questioned about deeds but only about belief so they so instead of reading it as “ Sila o Mosuul” they read it as ,” Jar o majrur” and the meaning then becomes that only the pure belief and pure disbelief will be questioned.

But if we consider the above verses we will find that people and not deeds have been placed. This tells us that that second explanation is incorrect. From the hadith of Imam Ali bin Hussein we find that questions will be asked about the life and the wealth gained by the people.
