SEVERE WITH FOE, MILD WITH FRIEND
VERSE NO.28-29
Two more important points about Islam and Moslims, have been spoken of here:- That Islam will spread universally and will overcome all other religions.
The second point is the qualifications of Moslims. It begins with:-
``God has sent His Messenger with guidance, and a religion which is right and all truth, that will prevail over all other religions that already existed in the world.''
And why should it not be so, when our prophet's call is to guidance, and his religion is mere truth, and a sending of the All-knowing Creator of the universe. Islam with its meaningful logic, and rich and fruitful content must overcome the old religions that almost all of them have been perverted from their originals, during many centuries past.
The victory of Islam over the other religions is the outcome of reason, logic, knowledge and wisdom, and not the outcome of swords as some of the unjust enemies have said. This prediction needs no witness or reason, because God, who has sent it down, is enough for a witness.
In the last verse of this chapter (S-48), the prophet's companions have been expressively described in the language of the Bible and the Gospel. It begins with our prophet saying:-
``Mohammad is the Messenger of God.''
He really is the Messenger of God; and makes no difference, whether a man believes or denies it. His account is with God to settle.
Then the reference is to Mohammad's companions, who are, and who were, with him. They are qualified of being severe with foe, and mild with friend. By nature of their faith, they are gentle, humble, kind, forbearing, and ever helpful, for relying on God their only Lord. They worship God earnestly, and the traces of their prostrations in worship, are engraved on their faces. In their countenance appears the light of God. They live for the sake of God, and work for the sake of God. In their bowing and prostrating, they seek the Grace of God, and His pleasure.
Their parables were seen in the Bible and Gospel from before. Their similitude in the Gospel is similar to a cultivation-a seed in the soil sprouts out its shoot and becomes stronger until it becomes thick and stands on its stalk. In other word; Islam at first was a seed that the unbelievers thought it to have been lost in the soils! But it put forth its shoot, and grew up and became stronger until it was able to stand on its own feet. Its growth and power filled the sower with wonder and delight and its enemies were confounded and became furious of that growth.
