FAITH AND ALMS, THE TWO CAPITALS FOR SALVATION
VERSE NO. 7-11
The above passage begins with a general invitation which includes all Mankind. The disbelievers are asked to believe, and the believers are called to enhance their belief to make it perfect:-
``Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and give in charity of what He has deputed you in it.''
Then in an interrogatory and reproaching manner, God adresses those who do not believe,asking:-``And what makes you not to believe in Allah, while the Messenger calls you to have faith in your Lord, who has already covenanted with you- if you are believers.''
In other word; what makes you not to believe in Allah when every heart beat of you is a clear sign that your life depends entirely on the knowledge, power, will and Mercy of God?
O, Non-believers! Where are you driving at?
As to what the covenant of God might be, there are two ideas:-
1-That covenant which Muslims made with our prophet in Aqabeh,a valley near ManÌ, ratified before emigration, or that which they made with Messenger of God in Hudaybeyeh.
2-The second idea holds the covenant as the obligations that arise from Man's creation, and are due to his spiritual and physical nature, and his relation with God. You may read more about this in volume two page 54 of this work.
