Verses 18-25Verses 11-17

OCCASIONS OF REVELATION.
Valid was very influential among the heathens of Mecca. The Pagan Arabs recognized him as the apple of the eyes of their society.
They had a council before the rush of pilgrims of HAJ, who would come to their town in thousands.
Their consultation was about Mohammad and his claim of prophethood; that how should they introduce him to the strangers and what is he to be officially called in front of the tourists and pilgrims?
Poet, Soothsayer, mad and many qualities and titles of such nature were proposed, but all were rejected by Valid's reasonings.
Valid then suggested the messenger of God to be introduced as an expert Sorcerer; and all agreed because a sorcerer was then known to be the apple of discord among people, who caused arguments and quarrel. And so did the pagan Arabs considered Mohammad (SA) at the beginning.

VALID THE UNJUST WEALTHY MAN

VERSE NO. 11-17
Previous verses attacked the unbelievers in general, and now the immediate reference is to certain individuals of them, who were effective in the social decisions and affairs:-
``Leave me alone with him whom I alone created and endowed him with wealth and sons, and all sorts of facilities and welfare.''
God alone has the competence to judge and to punish or promote His servants, because He is the All-knowing Creator, and knows all about His creatures. On the other hand, Man at his best can see only a fraction of the truth, which is not enough for just judgement.
In this relation, Valid himself had confessed that QurÌn is neither poetry, nor the word of Jinns; and that Mohammad had not the least similary with a magician, soothsayer or a poet. In order to please his foolish and wicked followers, and to protect his false and unlawful privileges, he unjustly accused the most truthful Man he ever knew, as being a sorcerer and an apple of discord!:-
``And in spite of all his evil deeds, he expects Me to give him more! No! Never! Because he is hostile to God's signs and evidences.''
Valid was indeed an incarnation of obstinacy, hostility and ignorance with regards to truth. So, all his power and wealth and other possibilities were only ropes given him to hang himself:-
``Soon shall I raise him up, in order to knock him down!''
A non-believer may consider his strength and wealth or his sons and wealth, and all the facilities that he has obtained are his very right, and that he has obtained them by using his facilities, but this is however not truth. What he thinks he owns are all the gifts of God, given him for certain purposes and definite aims. In other words, his wealth and Man power of sons, are only means of tests and trials. He may think of them, of steps of progress; but they can also become mounts of calamities.
