If a Traveller who Offers Prayer Fully Decides to Go somewhere Else

Issue No. 1177- If a traveller who has intended to stay at a place for ten days, but after the passing of ten days or offering a four rak‘at prayer, goes to a place which is less than four farsakhs and then returns he should perform complete prayer. If he wishes to go to a place which is less than eight farsakhs away and stay there for ten days, he should offer complete prayer on the way and also at that place. In case, however, the place he wants to go is eight farsakhs away or more, he should shorten his prayer on the way, and he should offer complete prayer where he intends to stay for ten days.

The Duty of One Who Remembers That He Is a Traveller During Prayer

Issue No. 1187- If a person begins offering a four rak‘at prayer, and recollects during prayer that he is a traveller, or that his journey is of eight farsakhs, he should complete the prayer in two rak‘ats provided that he has not gone into the rukū‘ of the third rak‘at. However, if he has gone into the rukū‘ of the third rak‘at, his prayer is void, and he should offer qaṣr prayer.

A Traveller Who Reaches His Hometown Before Performing Prayer

Issue No. 1189- If a person is a traveller at the outset of prayer time and does not perform prayer and later he arrives in his hometown or a place he wishes to reside at for ten days, he should offer complete prayer. On the contrary, if a person who is not a traveller does not offer prayer at the beginning of prayer time, and goes on a journey, he should offer qaṣr prayer during the journey.
